Class Descriptions


Delta/FS 1: Skaters will learn FS 1/2  elements along with proper entry and exit of all jumps and spins. 


  • FS 1 elements include: Forward inside pivot, 2-foot spin, forward arabesque, backward outside/inside edges, one-half flip and waltz jump.

  • FS2 elements include: Ballet jump, Waltz jump sequence, half lutz, 1-ft spin, 2 forward arabesques & dance step sequence.


FS 2/3: Skaters will learn FS 3/4 elements along with proper entry/exit of all jumps and spins. 


  • FS3 elements include: backward outside or inside pivot, change foot spin, backward arabesque, toe loop or toe walley jump, dance step sequence.

  • FS4 elements include: flip jump, loop jump, sit spin, one-half loop jump, 2 backward arabesques (one on each foot), backward outside and inside 3-turns along with dance step sequence.


FS 4/5/6: Skaters will learn FS 5/6/7 elements along with proper entry/exit of all jumps and spins.


  • FS5 elements include: axel jump, lutz jump, camel spin, camel/sit spin, backscratch spin, dancestep sequence and elements within the dancestep (choctaws, brackets, twizzles)

  • FS6 elements includes: double salchow jump, split jump, split falling leaf jump, jump sequence: axel/1/2 loop/flip jump, spin combo with change of foot and position, Cross foot, layback or site change sit spin, Dance step sequence and elements within dancestep (rocker, counter, loop)

  • FS7 elements includes:Double Toe Loop Jump, Two Walley jumps in a Row, Flying Combination Spin with Change of Foot and Position, Flying Camel Spin, Jump Sequence – One-Foot Axel/ One-Quarter Flip/ Axel, Jump in Opposite Direction (Choice of one – Flip / Loop / Lutz), Dance Step Sequence and elements within the dancestep.

All classes may includes:

  • Footwork and Artistry
  • Enhance your performance with expressive movement. This class focuses on edge quality, transitions, musical interpretation, and connecting with the audience—bringing out the performer in every skater.
  • Power and Conditioning
  • Build strength, endurance, and explosive power on the ice. Skaters will develop proper push technique, stamina, and control through drills that challenge speed and improve overall skating efficiency.

  • Monday, 1/26


*Monday’s competition team ice session will not be held on the above 4 dates. If we do not have testers for these sessions we will just not have the ice these Mondays.

Buy-in Information

  • 30 minutes Private Ice session: $15
  • Buy-in Ice may be limited or not available based on skaters on the ice

Skater Registration Helpful Hints

  • Skater/Guardian section: update skater info; age, address, phone, emails (main form of communications is through email so double check)
  • ISI number: ok to leave blank
  • Register for the level your skater has passed!! Example, if your skater has passed FS3 and is working on FS4, register for the sessions including FS3

Additional Class Descriptions  

  • Group/FS Classes

    • Skaters have the chance to work on their current level freestyle elements in the lesson layout made by the group class coach
    • Lessons may not have the same plan every class session, but all lessons will be planned for improving skaters’ abilities
    • This class may include reviewing and practicing a variety of higher and lower skating elements to help students be successful at their current level and their skating performance
    • This class may include: power and strength, jumping harness use, choreography
    • Skaters in the class will also learn the testing routine for their level and may practice their testing routine once coach expresses that the skater is ready to test into the next skating level
  • Private Lessons

    • In these sessions skaters are independent and use self-discipline and self-motivation to improve their skating
    • Skaters can work on any elements and programs while being aware of others on the ice
    • Skaters may seek out private lessons from HFSA coaches
    • Private lessons are an additional fee paid to coaches beyond the private ice cost
