Class Descriptions

Program Development:

This class helps skaters develop their own individual skating program from start to finish building upon each week’s lesson.

Skaters will work with coaches to select music, build choreography, and incorporate elements such as jumps, spins, and step sequences while learning about musical interpretation, facial expression,  and performance. By the end of the session, each skater will have a completed program to perform at the summer exhibition. Skaters who plan to compete during the winter season may also use this program as the foundation for their competition program, while non-competitive skaters can use it for testing or performance experience.

Power & Conditioning Class:

This on-ice Power & Conditioning class focuses on building strength, speed, and endurance to help skaters improve overall performance. Skaters will work through drills designed to develop power, edge control, and quickness on ice.

Competition Events:

An Introduction for  skaters into a variety of Ice Sports Industry (ISI) competition events while teaching the skills, requirements, and judging criteria for each.

Each week will focus on a different event, including Solo Freestyle, Rhythmic (using props such as hoop, ball, and ribbon), Artistic, Dramatic, Open Freestyle, and Jump & Spin/Couples Spotlight. Skaters will learn what judges look for in each category while building creativity, performance quality, and confidence. This class is a great opportunity for skaters interested in ISI competitions or for those who want to explore new and fun ways to perform on the ice.

Testing Sessions:

  • Tuesday, June 30 - 4:30-5:30pm
  • Tentative - Tuesday, July 21 - 4:30-5:30pm
